My guess is that either someone backed into a snowbank or someone in a parking lot hit it weirdly. I haven't really been driving it much. It was a bit worse than the picture, I was able to get some of it tucked in just with my hands.

Looks like it got reversed into a high curb or dumped quickly off a speed bump.

Down low like that, I'd say either a snowbank or a curb. Although bad drivers can do weird things in parking lots, I'd still think there would be more damage up higher.

Same thing happened to my Tribeca, needed a new plasticky bit that holds the bumper in place.

Looks like it was reversed into a low laying obstruction at the rear and has pushed out the side.
It should just pop back into position with either a 'tap' or a thump with the base of your fist, but if in any doubt, try and get under to have a look or use a mirror and a torch to have a look behind the bumper.
